Basketball Extramural Season Begins!!

Ohio University Intramural Sports' Extramural Officiating Season is now three weeks old.

First, Ian Swoboda traveled to Western Michigan University February 11-13 along with Nick Brigati who served as Director of Officials for the tournament. Ian had a great weekend culminating in working the Men's Final. He was honored as an All-Tournament Official and qualifies for an at large berth for the NIRSA National Championships at the University of Texas in April.

This weekend brought two more tournaments.

Brett Brecheisen headed up SR 33 with Officials Committee member Haley Drometer for the Ohio State NIRSA Regional. Brett represented Ohio university with class and received a Men's Semi-Final game.

Finally, Ben Strunk and Eric Yusko headed out to Boston University for their NIRSA Regional. Eric officiated well all weekend and worked a womens quarterfinal game. Ben finished the weekend working the Men's Final. He received All-Tournament honors and earned an automatic bid to the NIRSA National Championships at the University of Texas in April.

Final Flag Football Extramural Wrap Up

The Ohio University Flag Football Extramural season ended with four National Championship officials.

Ian Swoboda, Justin Carr, and Kevin Nye headed to New Orleans for the ACIS National Championships. All three represented Ohio University to an excellent standard. When all was said and done Kevin received a quarterfinal game, Ian worked field judge in the Co-Rec Final, and Justin worked back judge in the Mens Open Final. Justin was named an All-American.

The next week Ben Strunk traveled to Texas A&M University for the NIRSA National Championships. He worked line judge in the Co-Rec Semi-Final and was Down Box for the Co-Rec Final.
